本研究團隊先后承擔了國家863、973、重大專項、自然科學基金等40多個項目，在團隊成員努力下以及廣大工廠企業(yè)橫向課題支持下，在發(fā)酵工程研究過程中先后四次獲國家科技進步二等獎，10次省部級科技進步獎。形成的理論、方法與技術廣泛應用于生物產品的工藝優(yōu)化、工程設計和新產品開發(fā)，推進了我國生物醫(yī)藥產業(yè)化發(fā)展。

細胞培養(yǎng)與代謝工程研究中心（莊英萍教授團隊）是隸屬于生物反應器工程國家重點實驗室研究團隊。該研究團隊長期致力于生物技術產業(yè)化的共性和關鍵技術研究，為推進我國生物技術的產業(yè)化提供技術支撐。
研究團隊自1997年成立后，發(fā)揮多學科交叉優(yōu)勢，針對生物技術產業(yè)化中的科學問題開展基礎研究，著重解決共性和關鍵技術問題，逐漸形成了“工藝、工程、裝備一體化”的生物產品開發(fā)技術路線。先后與幾十個企業(yè)或研究單位建立了合作關系，培養(yǎng)了大批急需技術人才。
研究團隊在生物技術產業(yè)化的共性和關鍵技術，如發(fā)酵過程優(yōu)化與放大、生物過程在線傳感技術與計算機控制、生物反應器裝備研制、動物細胞培養(yǎng)、植物細胞培養(yǎng)、“三廢”處理技術等，取得了重大突破，并在生物領域廣泛應用。
Our research team is subordinated to the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering, National Engineering Research Center for Biotechnology (Shanghai) . We are devoted to the solution strategy of common and key problems encountered in the industrialization of biotechnology since 1997, hence, has been promoting to set up a technical supporting system for biotechnology industrialization, resulting in the sustainable progress of national biotechnology industry.
Based on the fundamental scientific research, Our research team has developed a mature technical solution for product improvement integrated with capability of technology, engineering and installation by taking advantage of multi-discipline technologies. Friendly cooperation has been built up between us and tens of enterprises and research institutes, which led to not only the significant elevation of their production levels, but also the successful training of a number of technicians for these enterprises.
Several breakthrough achievements have been gained on optimization and scale-up of bioprocess, on-line sensing, monitoring and data processing technologies, animal and plant cell cultivation，product purification and the treatment of waste gas, water and industrial residue. as well as the development and manufacturing of bio-equipments.

研究團隊近10年來，先后與國際著名大公司（如DSM集團、韓國CJ公司）、國外院校（如荷蘭Delft理工大學、英國Strathclyde大學、澳大利亞Adelaide大學等）進行技術合作，形成了獨特的生物技術研發(fā)體系。
